"Abortion has been founded on lies and deception from the very beginning.... All I did was lie about how I got pregnant. I was having an affair. It all started out as a little lie. I said what I needed to say. But, my little lie grew and grew and became more horrible with each telling."

     "Sarah and Linda's [the attorneys in Roe v. Wade] eyes seemed blinded to my obvious inability to tell the same story twice. It was good for the cause. It read well in the newspapers...."

I did not go to the Supreme Court on behalf of a class of women. I wasn't pursuing any legal remedy to my unwanted pregnancy. I did not go to the federal courts for relief. I went to Sarah Weddington asking her if she knew how I could obtain an abortion."

     "She and Linda Coffey said they didn't know where to get one. They lied to me just like I lied to them. Sarah already had an abortion. She knew where to get one. Sarah and Linda were just looking for somebody, anybody, to further their own agenda. I was their willing dupe. For this, I will forever be ashamed."

     Washington, DC -- Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Terry McAuliffe issued the following statement today in honor of the 29th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade.

     "Today I stand with millions of Americans in recognizing an important milestone in the fight to ensure personal freedom for all American women and families -- the 29th anniversary of Roe v. Wade," Chairman McAuliffe said.

     "I am proud today to honor this landmark decision, which ensured for American women what is nothing short of a fundamental human right. The Democratic Party is committed to empowering women of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds, protecting and promoting their right to choose, and fighting to ensure equality, choice, privacy and freedom for all Americans. Today and everyday, we remain steadfast in our efforts to protect these rights for generations to come," Chairman McAuliffe said.

     In an unguarded moment, Dr. Edward Allred, owner of the largest chain of abortion clinics in California, made his racist attitudes frighteningly clear: "Population control is too important to be stopped by some right-wing pro-life types. Take the new influx of Hispanic immigrants. Their lack of respect for democracy and social order is frightening. I hope I can do something to stem that tide; I'd set up a clinic in Mexico for free if I could . . . The survival of our society could be at stake . . . When a sullen black woman of 17 or 18 can decide to have a baby and get welfare and food stamps and become a burden to all of us it's time to stop."(12)

     OK, so now we have legalized abortion, because it was formerly illegal and unsafe, and this we did for the safety and benefit of woman, right? How safe is abortion now?
